Indoor UV Tanning

Why lotions?  Lotions are important when tanning in a salon.  They provide the moisture necessary to allow the UV in tanning beds to penetrate the skin to reach the melanin (pigment) producing cells.  Dry skin reflects much of the UV and reduces the results of indoor tanning.  Additionally, quality indoor tanning lotions contain other ingredients to accelerate pigment production and increase the longevity of the tan.  Generally, indoor tanning lotions should not be used outdoors because they do not contain SPF factors.

Please note:  although we allow you to bring your own tanning lotion, it must be indoor tanning certified.  Most outdoor tanning lotions are not compatible with the acrylics used in tanning beds. They “fog” the acrylic reducing the amount of UV coming out of the bed.  The same goes for over-the-counter moisturizers and SPF products.  Please show us your tanning lotion before using in the salon.  We will prohibit customers from using the salon if we find non-compliant products being used without our permission.

  Sunless Tanning Products

We carry a full line of  sunless tanning products.  It is important to use genuine VersaSpa products to guarantee compatibility with the moisturizers, prep and bronzers in the sunless tanning solutions. Using over-the-counter moisturizers, for example, may block the absorption of the solutions because of the oils present and/or the wrong pH.  All VersaSpa products are balanced for the natural pH of the skin.
